Sandy’s career falls into three phases and spans over 25 years of people work.
Phase 1 saw a concentration on HR & IR Management. Areas of involvement included HR planning, recruitment & selection, induction, performance management, training & assessment, learning & development, career development, succession planning, remuneration reviews, negotiation, mediation and industrial advocacy.
Phase 2 saw her move from focusing on organisational behaviour to consumer behaviour taking up roles in Sales & Marketing Management, specialising in sales development and coaching. “At the end of the day, it’s all about people. The different perspectives have afforded me deeper insights.”
Phase 3 sees her taking her place in the field of Organisational Change and Development. For over a decade, she has been conducting organisational reviews, building & cascading strategic frameworks, leading organisational and cultural change, designing and delivering team & leadership development and renovating the organisational systems and structures that support the work of leaders.
She has worked alongside leaders at all levels; consulting, facilitating and coaching for improved effectiveness.
Leadership is her passion and over the last 5 years, she has devoted significant time and energy to achieving “thought” leadership in this field.
Her breadth of knowledge is regularly used in the design phase of leadership programs; she has the ability to bring best practice to the table and then deliver these programs in very practical, down-to-earth ways.
Her work with leaders extends to their teamwork.
Sandy has a deep understanding of group dynamics, how to unlock the more dysfunctional aspects of group work, how to leverage team members differing gifts, how to navigate towards high performance team status and importantly, how to sustain it.
Organisational and cultural change also represents a significant area of expertise. In many roles, working within and consulting to organisations, Sandy has facilitated a major shift in culture, approach or thinking within those organisations. To that end, she has designed and implemented engagement, communication, change management and alignment strategies – exploring and harnessing the potential within the individual and the organisation and working collaboratively to find more constructive & sustainable ways of working.
